Inspired and motivated by successfully obtaining compensation on behalf of clients who have experienced historic sexual abuse, Alison recognises that financial compensation is an important part of the journey to recovery following physical or psychological injury.
Recognising the trauma, disruption and impact crime has on victims, many people are just not ready or able to navigate what can be a complex criminal justice scheme and access the compensation they are entitled to.
Offering a free, initial consultation in a way that best suits you (phone/in-person/digital meeting) Alison McCormack Solicitors will assess your eligibility to apply to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) and support you every step of the way through to a successful claim.
Personal and targeted effective approach
Reporting the Incident:
This is the first stage in making a criminal injury claim where you report the crime to the police and get a crime reference number. This helps to establish that a crime has taken place and provides a reference for your claim.
Gathering Evidence:
We will take full details of the incident from you to support your claim and will use this information to complete the online claim form. If you have been involved in a sexual crime we won’t make you repeat the incident details if its already detailed in a police report.
Submitting a Claim with the CICA:
Once we have taken all the relevant information from you we will submit the application form on your behalf along with all supporting documentation, such as medical evidence. The CICA then assesses the claim and decides whether to award compensation.
Receiving the Compensation:
If your claim is successful, the CICA will contact us to let us know their decision. If you are offered a payment and you decide to accept you will need to complete and sign an acceptance form within 56 days. The payment will be sent to us and we will deduct our charges and then send you your compensation.
